I want to buy one or two rpgs to begin with this genre
and I want to buy good titles, not mediocre ones.

Which are the best rpgs of the last two years?

For me it'd be Drakensang or Oblivion, but I know many would disagree
about Oblivion.

It saddens me to say this but Oblivion, when it's fully modded, is not
too bad of a game. And maybe FO3 too someday..

But if you haven't played Gothic 2 already, do yourself a favour and
try it.

Do you know is there a 1st person mod available for Drakensang ?

Has there even been any RPGs for the PC in the last 2 years?

I mean besides console ports.

And besides NWN2 expansions.

Just get an Xbox 360, there's a lot of good ones on that, I recommend
it. Fallout 3 is a must play but not worth buying a new PC for.

Oscuro's Oblivion Overhaul is the essential one and then for example
Mart's Monster Mod and Companion Sonia. There are literally thousands
of them to choose from.

Hmm... Not much.

I'd say Fallout 3, but that's not within the last 2 years, and I didn't
find New Vegas was very good.

The Bioware games Mass Effect 2 was o.k. as was Dragon Age, although I
didn't think Dragon good enough to play #2.

I've probably played way more Borderlands, but that's really streching it
to be called an RPG.

Frankly the older stuff is way better. Fallout 2 and Vampire the
Masquerade: Bloodlines are what I'd call top 2 ever.

RPG.... Last 2 years?

How about one of the very best RPGs in the last 3 years and still near
the very top of the pile? Originally developed as a PC exclusive.

"The Witcher "(1) . This is a true action-RPG with the emphasis on
RPG. Great story. Huge game with very interesting side-missions.
Unusual fighting style. See reviews.

( Has one of the finest intros of any computer game. Production
quality worthy of a sequence from an A+ movie )

Witcher 1 Enhanced Edition Director's Cut, normally $9.99 download
from "www.gog.com" is currently on sale for $4.99 !!!

NO DRM of any type. Download and "keep". Install anywhere any time.
No limit. LOTS of extra goodies provided with this version.. A true
steal for $4.99 if you have not already got the game.

And when you have finished that one, there is then the current
Witcher2............. again available for download without DRM from
"www.gog.com"

FYI: "www,gog.com" is the Good Old Games website, actually owned by
the developers of Witcher1 and Witcher 2, but normally in the business
of selling (legally) completely DRM-free versions of PC classic games.

I could never get into The Witcher. I got bored with all the running about
as there was no mount to be had. The dialog was a bit long-winded and the
scenery was oh, so, dull. On occasions I came across 'invisible walls' which
I detest as well. The inventory and building magic potions was a bit
convoluted. The action was sort of ok but not as good as Oblivion.

Just couldn't be bothered to finish it...
